I've been searching on TSR and seems the general consensus is that a standard 2000 word essay, for reading and writing will take about 3-5 days.
However I need to set aside two weeks normally, and that's rushing. It really annoys me though, if I could learn to be a bit more efficient it would really help.
In first year I did an essay in three days and got 60. I was ok with that. If I imagine three days now though...I don't know if that's possible. I think my problem is I do too much reading, as I'm often left with a lot of info I didn't need.
Can someone tell me their general routine of essay reading and writing?

I consider myself quite good when it comes to writing assignments and it doesn't take me that long. The last assignment I wrote, however, took me quite a while to do and I put a lot of effort into it. I accidentally bought this (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Study-Skills.../dp/0230573053) book at the start of the year and happened to have a look through it just before I finished my essay. It helped me so much! Gave me new ideas, allowed me to develop on what I'd already written and gave the whole essay a better structure. I'd really recommend it.
Getting started is the hardest part. This book makes it a lot easier to plan and figure out what needs to be done in terms of research.
