Hello and welcome to the TSR MHoC General Election March 2013!

Election fever has gripped TSR in the Model House of Commons and it is time for you to elect your next TSR government! All seven parties of the TSR Model House of Commons, and an independent candidate are campaigning for your votes. 50 seats are being contested, a party-list like system is to be used.

All of the campaigning parties'/indies' manifestos are below in this post, please read through them carefully as the policies of the TSR parties may differ considerably from their real life equivalent.

Feel free to use this thread to ask questions and get involved with the debate!

The poll will be open until Monday 8th April 2013 evening, and only those of you who have been here over 3 months and have more than 150 (100?) posts can vote. If you encounter any problems voting then please contact BOTH the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker; Jarred and toronto353 via PM.

But what exactly is the MHoC? Well, it's a forum here on TSR where members write and debate their very own laws in a (casual) parliamentary setting. It's a great deal of fun for all involved, and makes a change from debating the boring issues of the real world, because here you can choose what political issue you debate every time. If you like politics and have always fancied the idea of running the country yourself then the MHoC is for you, we are always looking for people to get involved, so why not join in? You can find out a lot of information in my signature, a good place to start is the Newbie Guide. Note that parliament is currently dissolved until we have the results, but who knows; perhaps you could be one of the very MPs that you elect today! If you have any questions about the MHoC, please PM me or ask in here.

    All eight manifestos now follow:

    TSR Conservative and Unionist Party

    TSR Green Party

Fair is worth fighting for - our plan for a verdant, vibrant Britain.

A vote for The Green Party represents equality, social justice and policies for the public good. Join us in safeguarding people's rights, protecting the environment and making this country a better place for all.

    Our achievements:
    • Invested £7bn a year into building new social housing.
    • Repealed right to buy keeping social housing stocks high.
    • Relaxed laws so 16-18 year olds can drink responsibly in pubs.
    • Ensured Britain keeps to international treaties.

    Our Economic Plans:
    • Invest in researching technologies for renewable energy, greener infrastructure and reliable transport.
    • Abolish the Community Infrastructure Levy for affordable private housing.
    • Introduce a living wage, ensuring everyone in work can remain above the poverty line.
    • Oppose any privatisation of public services and defend against NHS privatisation.
    • Put greater emphasis on Green energy sources such as solar and wind.
    • Make polluters pay in order to prevent irresponsible corporate damage to the environment.

    Our Social Plans:
    • Introduce legal and social equality for all, regardless of gender or sexuality.
    • Introduce compulsory foreign language tuition as well as focusing on providing for smaller schools with more freedom for students and teachers.
    • Reform higher education to be free at the point of use.
    • Spearhead a national revival in public spaces and public services for a cleaner, healthier Britain.
    • Preserve twentieth century buildings rather than demolishing them and making people homeless.

"What's the use of a house if you don't have a decent planet to put it on?" - Henry David Thoreau

    TSR Labour Party

He who rejects change is the architect of decay. - Harold Wilson

Labour formed a Model House of Commons government in the face of a savage cuts and a triple-dip recession. We've started the long road to recovery - and with your vote, we can reach the end of it.

Last election, you made us the largest party in the Commons, and we abolished pointless police commissioner elections, reformed the banking system to avoid more crashes, and created a more even platform between employers and employees. Here's what we aim to do this time:

    • Continue to focus on massive infrastructure profits designed to kickstart the economy and bring jobs to the whole country.
    • Create a new generation of better hospitals, safe from private hands.
    • Stop unpaid work-for-benefit schemes. Forced labour should never be labour.
    • Establish a tough new independent press regulator to reduce the excesses of the press.
    • Reintroduce an EMA system, to ensure that people who want to learn can - regardless of class.
    • Nationalise rail and bus links to provide an integrated outfit that serves both rural and urban communities.
    • Institute a pacifist foreign policy, which uses military action for defense and UN-sanctioned missions alone.
    • Equip schools to offer sciences and computing, to give the next generation the future.

The Labour Party is your party, so help us form this term's government so we can shape the future.

TheLabourParty – for a fairer Britain.

    TSR Liberal Party

Are you annoyed by the rising cost of living?
Frustrated with the continued erosion of your basic rights?

    We are too!

    Building an economy for all
We have removed the shackles of social elitism but many are still hurt by economic dictatorship.
We will fight for the rights of the honest taxpayer.

    This includes:
    • Forcing energy companies to subsidise their bills, helping with rising fuel costs.
    • Creating a 'childcare premium fund', assisting families with the cost of full-time childcare.
    • Clamping down on exploitation by legal loan sharks
    • Tackling loopholes exploited by big business
    • Forcing state-owned banks to lend to small and start-up businesses
    • Restricting individuals from creating media monopolies.

    Fighting for your civil liberties
For many years, your civil liberties have been eroded and the state's grip has tightened.
We will restore basic freedoms and shrink the Big Brother state.

    This includes:
    • Repealing 'stop and search' legislation
    • Rejecting any legislation that creates secret courts.
    • Opposing plans for DNA databases and ID cards
    • Forcing police to remove your DNA and details if you haven't been convicted.
    • Fighting against any attempts to censor the Internet.

    Creating an efficient, green Britain
For too long, Britain's infrastructure and environment have been in decline.
We will make Britain fit for future generations.

    This includes:
    • Reducing our carbon emissions by 60% by 2030.
    • Investing in public transport and railways, improving punctuality and capacity.
    • Investing in science and engineering education, as well as apprenticeships and training.
    • Expanding our national recycling system.

If you share our vision for a fairer, more prosperous Britain:
    Vote Liberal!

    TSR Libertarian Party
The out-going TSR government has raised taxes We won't do that, we'll cut them.
The out-going TSR government has stolen private property We will return their investments
The out-going TSR government has pooped the party Party with the Libertarians instead

But, we're not going to go and tell you why you should vote for us, we're going to tell you why you have to vote for us:

    We Have:
    • We have legalised all drugs - stopping the funding of organised crime
    • We have legalised euthanasia - allowing people to decide how they want to die
    • We have legalised and regulated brothels - sex is no business of the state
    • We have scrapped VAT and repealed Sunday Trading Laws - promoting business
    • We have reformed welfare, making it fair for everybody

    We Will:
    • We will introduce a Bill of Rights, safeguarding the freedom of speech, right to self defence you, as a British resident, have
    • We will stimulate the building of affordable housing in brownfield areas - helping you get on the property ladder
    • We will introduce computer coding into the national curriculum - equipping children for the future
    • We will cut taxes and return the railways and water back into private hands - the nationalisation knee-jerk isn't always the answer

A vote for rights, a vote for freedom, a vote for liberty is a vote for the TSR Libertarians

    TSR Socialist Party

    Left-wing // Environmentalist // Civil Libertarian

Resolute in our commitment to a left-wing alternative, this election we emerge having fulfilled all of our last manifesto's promises.

TAXES \ We abolished income taxes for those earning less than £20k by bringing back the 50% rate for those at the top.

BANKS \ Through splitting up the 'too-big-to-fail' banks and introducing a Robin Hood Tax on financial transactions, we've begun to right the wrongs of free-market banking.

TRANSPORT and UTILITIES \ We've renationalised train services and the water system to cut prices and put money back into your pocket.

Our agenda for the next term:

EDUCATION \ We will push to reform the education system, concentrating primarily on the abolition of tuition fees and the overhaul of the maintenance loan system. These measures will counter the reckless decisions made on education throughout the last decade, providing a fairer system for all.

DRUGS \ We want to liberalise cannabis laws and provide a comprehensive rehabilitation service for drug addicts.

ENERGY \ We want to bring energy in the UK back under public control; we believe that this is the only way to make our energy sector more environmentally sustainable whilst lowering the price of energy for consumers.

FINANCE \ We will continue to fight against destructive banking practices, and work to make finance more transparent by ensuring customers are made aware of what is happening with their deposits; consumers will be able to decide whether or not they want banks gambling with their savings on the financial markets, and no bank should ever be bailed out again.

    tehFrance, Independent
I tehFrance support everyone, vote tehFrance... better than abstaining!

    Policies

    TSR UKIP

    • For the past term, we have striven for investment in our economy, and fought for the right way in solving the United Kingdom's social problems; for without a positive economy, we invite our nation’s social problems.
    • We have managed to create a comprehensive British Bill of Rights that deals with a truly common-sense approach to people’s lives whist securing the protections of all citizens.
    • We've fought for the Olympic Legacy — something we shall continue to do, and proudly ensure that the legacy of London 2012 endures over generations.
    • We will continue to discuss and debate our British sovereignty, and we seek withdrawal from the EU while maintaining good, solid relations with European states on issues which we are united upon. We will work with you the voters to get what you want out of our European relationship.
    • We will continue to press for sensible international relations with other countries and the EU.
    • We will put forward revolutionary proposals that will change the shape of an education system beyond recognition, supporting teachers, and equipping students with the skills they need for their lives to come, including considering the alternative of introducing more grammar schools.
    • We pledge to solely serve the people, and all of the people, within the people's parliament.

WE NEED YOUR VOTE TO HELP US
    BEST REPRESENT BRITAIN

SO MAKE SURE YOU VOTE FOR TSR UKIP IN THE
    MHOC GENERAL ELECTION!

    TSR UKIP: PUTTING BRITAIN FIRST

Finally; a note from the Speaker: I am not involved with any of these candidates and had no part in creating any of these manifestos, so negging me is pointless if you see something you dislike. Please neg the authors instead, they've all shown their faces in this thread at some point.

Interesting to see you have a link to RL politics in your Model House of Commons manifesto.

Care to explain why you think it is necessary? Will it mislead voters no?

    Woo!
To clarify, your manifesto seems to suggest getting rid of private medical clinics, or at least opposing them somewhat. Can I ask why you take that stance when this reduces choice and provides little benefit?
