Hey, in need of some help.

My mum has been wanting to move houses for ages. She signed a contract with the council today, tenancy agreement (?) However, we visited as a family today, and we hated it. It was far too small and dingy. I assume the contract is legally blinding, so I don't think there is any way out.

I just wondered whether anyone knew whether the council are very strict, i.e could my mother perform a u-turn and say that circumstances have changed? or do we HAVE to move to the new place now? despite hating it?

    Thanks for any help.

First of all I don't understand why you signed the contract before viewing the house :-\ .

It is legally binding, contact your council and beg... it is completely up to them now.

Edit; You could say that your mum was not in the right frame of mind when signing, say that she was stressed, depressed or something. That might help.

It was my mum She went to see it last week and was given it last week and signed today.

The place we are at is too expensive. The new place is 50 quid cheaper per week, but is horrible and small.

I am sorry to hear that Mike. Is there not anyway you can make it look nicer :-\ . I know you can't change the size, but you can do other things.
