Hi there,
I'm currently doing my A-Levels- History, Sociology, Politics and English Lit and am really confused about which course to do in uni and generally what I want to be in life..
My favourite courses so far are Sociology and History. Does anyone have any advice on humanity courses they are doing and the career paths you've chosen?

Get hold of three or four Uni prospectuses or go to Uni websites, and just flip through them. See what courses grab you interest - read all the descriptions and think about what really interests you. Yes, there are obvious choices like Politics or Sociology (or a joint subject degree) but there are also heaps of other possibilities. Look at courses with unfamiliar names like Criminal Justice studies (or even Law?), Development Studies, Social Policy, History, Heritage/Museum Studies, Social Anthropology and also 'area' courses like American Studies, Asian Studies, Irish Studies etc etc some of which might also include a Year Abroad.
One really useful website is www.whatuni.com Enter a possible subject, then on the next page enter your likely A level grades (be realistic) and this will give you a long list of Unis to check out for their actual subject/grade requirements. There are often also 'other courses' listed under each Uni entry that are worth looking at.
PS. If you really arent sure what to do, then think about taking a year out to give yourself time to think calmly. And look at the website www.notgoingtouni.com for other ideas/choices.Last edited by returnmigrant; 22-04-2013 at 00:57.
