I applied to SFE for the tuition fees, maintenance grant / loan etc and upon receiving my declaration i find out i will not be receiving any tuition fees. When i contacted them it is because i accessed 2 years worth of education a couple of years ago. I did not receive any student finance / loans for either of my courses. They tell me that they will only fund up to 4 years in total and therefore will only fund me for years 2 and 3. I have been offered unconditional places for my course too

Has anybody had a similar experience? is there any way i can appeal or at least access some funding?

It doesn't matter whether you received funding - it's the amount of years you previously studied for.

You'll either need to be able to show you had Compelling Personal Reasons (such as medical) for not completing one of your previous year. This will have to be backed up with evidence.

Or find a course that will let you skip the first year and go straight into second.

Your final option is to consider part time study as this wont be affected by any previous full time study you have done, but you will only receive funding for the course itself and no money directly.
