Hi all, was just trawling through info about my foundation school application (I am currently ranking choices) and I discovered mention of interviews at some trust prior to acceptance onto the foundation programme.

Does anyone have any experience of what these interviews involve?

Also what other pre-employment checks do you have to go through?

I thought once I had been allocated a deanery and passed finals that would be it!!!!!

Depends which deanery and which hospital.

Some hospitals have full blown OSCE circuits pre-employment (im scared if this happens!), some have an interview, others just a fill in this paperwork and we will let you know if there are any problems. Some deaneries interview everyone and then use that score to determine your ranking - but that's on their website and you would already know.

I am not sure how you were not expecting this, you don't just get handed a job on a plate.

    Thanks for the info

You say that you don't just get a job on a plate, but presumably you do at those hospitals that don't choose to interview (the ones that you mention that fill in paperwork and that's it).

Those are the only pre-employment checks I'd heard of, though I guess it makes sense for the trusts to protect themselves by checking doctors are not obviously dangerous.

I'm not too worried about them, I've passed finals and it can't be any worse than that. It's just another drag.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to get used to continually being assessed.
