Just saw this on facebook and it seems to be attracting quite a bit of attention recently.

The idea is basically to pay for a coffee which will be given to someone who can't afford one later on. Here's a bit more info on what they are

What are your opinions on it? Should shops here adopt it? Would you buy one?

    Lovely idea
Hope it would work-and not be abused!

Yeah it could probably be abused quite easily. You'll just have to have faith in people not to abuse it.

I'll be honest, a lot of ideas like this on facebook are complete crap. But this one, I can actually find myself agreeing with. Very nice idea.

Seems Starbucks is actually taking this on board. Copied from its UK facebook page:

Suspended Coffee is coming soon to Starbucks!

Thank you for all your enquiries, we echo your passion to help those in need, especially in the recent cold spell.

When you pay for a suspended coffee, we’ll give coffee to that value to our longstanding charity partner, Oasis, which will then distribute the coffee to its community hubs across the UK, and we’ll match the value of each suspended coffee in a cash donation to Oasis. This will help provide warmth and comfort for those in need.

We’re thrilled to be embracing the spirit of Suspended Coffee and will let you know as soon as you are able to take part in your local store.
I'm sure the opportunity to make more money played a big factor in their decision, nevertheless it's great news.
