This is going to be complicated to explain, so bear with me!

Right well, I was best friends with this lad for around 4 months before we got together. We were together for around 7 months and then we broke us, as he said 'he didn't love me anymore'. However, we've reverted to going back to being best friends again but it feels like not much has changed.

For example, he always insists on saying goodnight and being determined to stay awake longer than me so it's possible, texting me throughout the day to check i'm okay and stuff like that.

Recently I've been through some tough times, and he's been there to support me but he's been cuddling me, and kissing my forehead and keeping his arm round me. Today, we kissed properly again.

I need opinions on what people think... is he still interested in me in a relationship sense, or is he just finding it difficult to adjust..?

Personally, from what you've said I think he's just finding it hard to adjust or, as harsh as it sounds, he's stringing you along. Whether he's doing this subconsciously or not is a different matter but it's possible. Do you still have feelings for him? If so, you need to work out whether you distance yourself from him completely for a while and cut all contact or just pull back a bit... You need time apart to adjust otherwise it'll drag on...
