Hello, i'm doing an analysis on a particular theme that is discussed in mulan : duty and responsibility.

In mulan, Fa Zhou sets up a match-maker for his daughter to get married, (which is basically, a traditional way of thinking.. or rather a way of thinking that society conforms as right/successful ) but she screws the match-making session. No only that but she carries out what she feels is her duty (to her father) by replacing him in the fight for the war right?

Parents set our duties for their children, because they feel responsible for their children's future. But is it necessary to follow these duties? And are there any examples in real life that can be linked to this?
