i've had a samsung tocco for literally about the past 5 years, just because it's been cheap and i haven't needed anything else, i started out on a contract but when that ran out i just kept the phone and stuck with a £10 a month sim-only deal.

but recently it's started to play up a bit and it crashes whenever i use facebook, won't let me log into my email, takes ages to load sites, etc and i'm really starting to feel like i need a smartphone of some sort, i was thinking the galaxy s3.

my sim-only contract doesn't run out til october - can i do anything about this, i.e. upgrade, or can you only upgrade if you're on a pay monthly scheme already/if you're at the end of your contract?

i don't really want to be stuck with this phone til october but i think that might be my only option? unless i just get a new phone and carry on paying the £10 a month + my new phone's charges but it seems a bit silly. can anyone help?

    thanks

Consider the Nexus on giffgaff, or even as a pay monthly

The i9300 (int. version) has got developer support, but the issue is that Samsung won't release full documentation for the Exynos chipset...

What this means is you will never get a stable, vanilla 4.2.1 experience, nor will you likely get any android versions past Jellybean.

But if you do go for an s3, consider: http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/...m_source=23153

But I reckon the best bang for your buck will be the Nexus sim-free via google play, https://play.google.com/store/device...us_4_8gb&hl=en
which is DIRT cheap for a new, next-gen phone. Then simply use your sim on it til october, and move on to a pay as you go giff gaff sim which is unlimited data and texts.

    Good luck
