Grading Question?

My friend got these grades for his essays: 37, 40 and 83, he needs 40% overall to pass, how can he calculate his mark and if hes passed or not?

Can't tell without knowing how they're weighted/whether the module has other assessed elements... If it's an OU module then there's usually an Assessment Calculator (linked from underneath the various assignment marks in the TMA submission/scores screen) where you can figure it out.
