    Any advice?

I've been debating over these three for quite sometime. I've had offers from all listed, but I'm currently leaning towards Birmingham, but I've heard Southampton is a better school.

I'm an international student , so one of my biggest concern is fitting in! ): I've heard that computer science would have little to no girls, is that true?

IMO Birmingham is the better uni (not in terms of reputation, but the uni experience), Southampton has the better CS reputation and York has the better course.

CS has few girls (we probably have 20/130?) but loads of internationals.

We've had loads of problems at Soton, some of which have been going on for a couple of years and still not fixed (two modules were complete screwups for example). Don't know if it's any different anywhere else so I'm not sure I should still be recommending it!

    I second that

Also, 20!? Girls must be spread real thin then xD

Edit: I just heard from like 4 friends in the UK that birmingham (specifically edgbaston, where the university is) isn't really a good neighbourhood? Would love to hear from students there about that

For one of our modules, one of our lecturers was rubbish. Couldn't explain a thing clearly. "You see how x means y, so z (completely unrelated) works?" kind of thing. We all complained to our course reps and the department ackowledged it but didn't do anything about it.
Two others had the same head lecturer and the department are actually doing something about this one now. Coursework kept getting changed right up to the week before it was due, module had no content, exam paper was a mess etc.

On the other hand some of the modules are great and the facilities are amazing.

My post at the end of that is a good indicator as to what it was like for me at Birmingham.

I don't think you could go wrong with any of those 3!

Sounds interesting, TBH! I've done a 3 year diploma in IT with a course structure similar to this (minus the AI) so I'm given the option of entering at 2nd year level. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to cope..

Is the final project at the end of the year done alone or with a group? Also, how was your social life like? Was it hard to have one?

Southampton easily, IMO. The EECS department is very good, one of the very best in the country.

FYP is on your own and it's not really end of the year as such, you've got all Final Year to do it to be fair.

Social life is decent to be fair if you manage your time okay and sort everything else out and you're reasonably organised. Goes without saying that it was pretty non existent last few months/around exams but that should be the same for any proper degree to be fair!
