Mac and Bobbi Brown are both really good. My recommendation is to go to Fenwicks, Debenhams or some department shop and ask the sales assistants if you can have a look at the brushes, make sure to feel how pliable the bristles are, and the quality as it does vary. Be wary buying them online, as there are so many fakes.

Lots of makers of 'good old fashioned hair brushes' have also got makeup brush ranges now, try the Twelve brand by Kent.

Royal & Langnickel usually make paintbrushes but do lovely makeup brushes. You can get a full set for about £30 on Ebay.

Before you splash the cash you should check out Real Techniques brushes, they are about 10 pounds each although theres a few sets for around 20 quid. They're amazing and very well respected for being great brushes.
