# M1 question, projectile motion watch

1. Having difficulty with b

horizontally I have
u=24cos40=18.4..ms^-1
v=24cos40=18.4..ms^-1
a=0ms^-2
s=57 meters
t=3.10 seconds (worked out sucessfully from part A)

Vertically
u=24sin40=15.4..ms^-1
v=?
a=-9.8ms^-2
s=s
t=3.148..

I worked out t by finding t at the top by keeping u the same taking a as 9.8 vertically downwards and v as 0

I thought originally you do s=ut+1/2(at^2) with t 3.148 then t 3.1 and then the difference in s is h, but when I did this I got a really small number

...
All you need do is work out s (vertically), when the ball is at P, i.e. when t=3.10.

And s will be h.
