# slack variables watch

1. is anyone unfortunate enough like me 2 be doing D&D module in maths? if so i have a question on slack variables. I know it is possible to do them as 5 unknowns is three equations eg
x+y+s1=1000
2x+y+s2=1500
3x+2y+s3=2400
but for my cwk i would like 2 know if there is a method for 6 unknowns in 4 equations? thank you
2. Something like this?

x+y+s1=1000
2x+y+s2=1500
3x+2y+s3=2400
4x+3y+s4=3000

I believe the variables would have to labeled individually. i.e. a, b, c, d. You won't be able to have a1, a2, etc.

Which method are you using, the simplex method or linear programming? As I believe you can only have two variables, i.e. X and Y, anything beyond that is greater than 2 dimensional.
