    Hi,

I haven't started the car hunt yet, but due to a new job I have I'll be commuting about 180 miles a day, every day, for about 50 weeks in a year. This makes my annual milage at about 45,000 ± 5,000.

I've been looking at a number of cars with good mpg and that look and feel nice. So far, Mercedes A-class, MINI, Audi A1 and A3, BMW1 and Ford Fiesta have all caught my attention.

I won't be able to afford any of the above cars cash in hand, but I'll be able to make the monthly finance payments if I was to hire purchase the car for a term of 3-4 years.

On their websites, they all assume 10,000 miles in their contracts. I don't intend to visit a garage until later in the year when I have to buy, but does anyone know if either of the above companies allow high annual mileage hire purchase contracts? I don't want to pay x amount of pence for every mile driven on a low mileage contract.

    Thanks!

That's a verrryyyy high amount of millage per year. Not sure if the leasing companies will be to happy about having the car clock over 100000 miles by the time the lease is up.

I'd try to get some sort of second hand diesel with over 100000 on the clock.

I didn't think the mileage limit applied if you pay the final optional payment at the end of the contract and keep the car?

Could someone clarify this to me because I am in a similar dilemma.

If you're going to be doing that many miles, look into something bigger like a vw golf bluemotion. I drive the 1.6 tdi with 7 speed dsg box, nice comfy automatic and all the helpful add ins like cruise control. Great mileage too, think it can be up to 83 mpg.

Took it on finance on a basis of 25k miles a year, just has the excess mileage charges or the optional final payment, depends what you want to do.
