I've been suffering for over a year from anxiety and panic attacks due to stress at work. I've just finished CBT and have been on a couple of dates with a guy but I get so nervous beforehand! I cancelled our third date and told him I'm not sure I'm ready to date, but I feel a bit as though its the anxiety talking and I'm pushing him away before I've given him a chance.

Should I wait to date? Or is it good to put myself into this type of situation? I've told him a bit about my anxiety but not sure he understands.

Personally I would tell him about your situation and see how he reacts and how much patience he is prepared to give. I've got an array of mental health issues myself and am very lucky to have found someone that has put up with me through all my ups and downs and still holds my hand at the end of the day.

Just tell him the situation and be honest, most people have their hang-ups/issues so he'll most likely be very grateful you've confessed yours instead of worrying that it's something he's done.

If it doesn't work out then at least you know he wouldn't be supportive of your anxiety if and when you need him to be which isn't at all what you need.

Hold your ground and remember that there's someone out there, whether you know them yet or not, that'll stand by you through it all
