Hey everyone, I'm here because I kind of need some advice pertaining to interaction with those of the opposite gender. Since I was in Primary One, all the way till now, in Secondary 4, I've been in all-girls schools, so I'm understandably awkward around guys. Most of my friends were from co-ed primary schools, so they have at least a few guy friends but I only have 4-5 from our brother school. I'll be starting Junior College next year, and I really don't want to be awkward around them, especially the one I have a crush on... Any advice? (P.S. I blush excessively, how do you control that?!)

Thanks and have a splendid day!

I assume your social group is all female. You could suggest socialising in a mixed sex environment, either going to a bar or just organising a house party in which they invite their male friends.

I went to a mixed gender primary school, then an all girls secondary school and then back to a mixed gender college so in some ways, I can relate to your problem.

I think what you need to keep in mind when you're introduced to a guy is to think of him as a friend, nothing more and nothing less, similar to how you feel if introduced to a female. When I was at secondary school, I know a lot of girls (myself included sometimes) often always viewed guys with romantic interest only and this is where it tends to go wrong and create that feeling of awkwardness.
