12 week Brazilian keratin straightening treatment. watch

    • Thread Starter

Has anyone had a Brazilian straightening treatment? It is £69 so I don't want to get it if it is useless. I realise it'll probably wreck my hair but hopefully not.

Please say whether this helped the texture and manageability if your hair. My hair is frizzy and it is supposed to help.

I had L' Oreal X-Tenso, a similar treatment, done at Toni and Guy Academy. It cost about £20. (I had it done because I was going away for a few months without straighteners.) I definitely recommend it, frizz was pretty much eradicated and it was much smoother.

It hasn't 'wrecked' my hair. I haven't noticed a deterioration in my hair; perhaps a few more split ends, but I have always been prone to them.

Hey there, i got it done last summer, mines cost £150 i guess it depends on the length of your hair.
Actually it's not supposed to wreck your hair. It is basically a long term protein treatment and makes your hair reborn, stronger and healthier.
I have really curly hair and when i got it done, my hair was wavey / straight - ish for the first 2 - 3 months but it was not frizzy and no fly aways. in fact I found my hair to be really soft and manageable - no need for styling, just wash and towel dry. After that my curls started appearing and after another 3 moths it went back all curly.

I guess since your hair is frizzy the keratin straightening treatment will do a good job at taming it but don't expect your hair to be flat straight for the whole 6 months, it will gradually go back to its natural state - to slow down that stage I suggest you use sulphate free hair shampoos so it stays straight for longer.

Oh and some people say that after the keratin hair treatment their har falls out quite a bit. To be honest, this did not happen to me, but I guess it is a possibility.

    Hope that helps = )

£69 is a bargain tbh. In my area cheapest is £150, most places doing it for £200. I haven't gotten it done myself but will be doing it in the summer time. My sister gets it regularly and her hair is really smooth and silky (she has naturally curly hair).
