    Hi Student room,

I to start a career in accountancy, but without going through the UNI route.

    I Got a Chemistry degree (2.2).

what steps do i need to take to get in to accountancy?

Can I get into accounting with a Science Degree?

is it easier to join a small firm as a trainee, and then get then company to fund for the qualification? do small firms do that?

or is it easier taking a apprenticeship in accountancy?

Any Advice would be really helpful

    Thanks

You can do any degree, it is a common misconception that you have to study Economics or Mathematics to get into finance. Some of the smaller companies do take on graduates with 2.2s I believe, but if you have your heart set on the big 4, you may have to enter via their school leaver scheme, assuming you have the A-levels required.
