For the past few weeks, maybe you even a couple of months now, I've noticed that often my mum spends ages in the bathroom, and I hear coughing noises that sounds like she could be throwing up, and then I hear the toilet flush and her brushing her teeth straight after. She's always had problems with her weight and is always on some kind of diet. However, I'm not completely sure, I could just be being paranoid and be completely wrong, which is why on scared to ask her about it  if I was to confront her about it I wouldn't know what to say :/ any advice?

That's a very tough situation to be in, I think most people who suffer with eating disorders battle with them for most of their lives and often privately. Personally I would think that you should just talk to her, in as non-confrontational a way as possible, tell her that you love her and you are worried about what you have noticed and would like to understand. Maybe she will open up about it? Good luck x

    agree with previous reply .

a small suggestion as well , If she really do have issue with purging , it is important to let her know that people who purge should not brush their teeth right away due to the stomach acid and brushing her teeth will actually rot her teeth in a much quicker speed.

simply wash her mouth with water or/and maybe a mouthwash later on, as well as using a pronamel toothpaste. if she think her breath does not smell good it is best to have some mint or gum instead.

    best of luck
