I applied through UCAS this year to do Geography, but I realise now that it was a mistake. I think I just didn't know what to do, so doing the subject I enjoyed seemed like the easiest option. I'm now thinking of taking a gap year and maybe doing voluntary work with either special needs people or other health conditions. I think that I would enjoy nursing, although I don't know that much about it, could anyone tell me more about the career of nursing? Thanks!

Also try and volunteer with an organisation such as St John Ambulance or the British Res Cross to gain first aid experience and it will also provide a chance to you to work with and alongside health care professionals such as doctors, nurses, paramedics, ambulance technicians and so on ... Go the the main websites of this organisations and try and find a section called 'volunteering with us' or something like that, ps I only know this information because I've been a St John Ambulance member for just over three years now and it's opened many doors for me to becoming a nurse as I got and firmed a uni offer as an adult nurse for this September good luck!

You can also try and volunteer in a hospital, nursing homes, or any kind of place related to your chosen area.

I applied to uni with only admin work experience and a few hours volunteering in a day care centre. In my personal statement I related my current skills to the skills needed for nursing. I managed to succeed in gaining entrance into you. I start my adult nursing course this September 2013.

    Hope this helps
