I only revise around a few weeks before my exams for like an hour a day just reading through the revision guides and do perfectly fine on the exams. I don't understand why people don't just understand and remember what they are taught in lessons...

People at my school do pretty much the same as me so I just don't get why everyone here revises so much o.O

If I'm honest, I think some users exaggerate their revision so as to look committed/good. It's that or they aren't really educated on the principle of balanced revision.

The majority of those revising crazy hours per day will most likely be year 12's who are obsessed with getting high UMS scores and applying to Oxbridge.

If they can do it without it becoming unhealthy and they feel they need to then no, some people don't need much revision, some people need loads.

I think it's more that the people that revise loads come to TSR.

I did the same as you for gcse but you can't really do it for A-level or uni and get away with it.

Depends what you consider to be "perfectly fine" though isn't it?

Some people think getting 5 A*-C grades is perfectly fine, and their schools will show off about what a high percentage of their pupils have got 5 A*-C grades. On the other hand, some schools will kick you out if you get anything less than 5 A grades. Some pupils won't be satisfied with anything less than straight A*s.

I'm doing a-levels and I find 6 hours absolutely insane, especially during term time. 2 hours a day for 4 weeks would be enough for me to get 90%+ in mine. Not that that happens, I usually cram a couple days before each exam and maybe between lessons some days 2 weeks before and do okay(A/B grades).

Depends how naturally gifted you are, and which way of revision you prefer. I do a lot of maths so cramming past papers works for me.

    Agreed.

I just keep telling myself "Aly, study hard these 2 years, and you'll be set for life".
