Just wondering whether there are any quantitative desks within the banks which sit (roughly speaking) withing IBD/advisory. (e.g. I think GS IB Strategies groups fall under here?). What's the equivalent at other places?

I dont think there are quant role in IBD, considering what the IBD does - M&A, IPO etc.

Quant roles normally are provided in Risk Management Division.

I know Goldman have some Quant Research group that sits under IB (Strategies team?), but they shook up their divisions a few years back and moved some of the Securities teams behind the Chinese Wall/into IBD, so not sure if what they actually do is related to IBD (in the popular understanding of the term).

Goldman are the only bank with any remotely quantitative teams in their IBD. Other banks have some atypical teams in their IBDs, like Citi's 'Financial Strategies' group, but the work cant be classed as quant.
