In about a months time I'll be leaving Surrey and moving up north to West Yorkshire to move in with my boyfriend.

I reckon most, if not all of my stuff will fit in my car to drive up. Anything that doesn't fit can wait a few months and I can use as an excuse to go home and visit everyone.

I've got a load of things that I know I need to do and change addresses for but can anyone think of anything that might not have obviously occurred to me? Any tips on how to organise my belongings? I guess it'll be quite similar to me moving out for uni but on a larger scale.

    Cheers guys!

If your belongings don't fit in your car. Consider renting a small van. I had to do that when moving towns due to sofa, etc. but it actually worked out a ton cheaper than I had expected. In terms of organising things, just try to pack things well to ensure no damage and i'd recommend packing things by room so you can simply carrying a box in and know where to put it. Nothing is worse than having boxes everywhere and running around your new home trying to find your hair dryer for example! Change addresses, set up a redelivery system for your old address via the royal mail if your not going to be visiting home for a while. Try and take some 'hand luggage' like you would on a plain for the actual move. Couple of sets of clothes, shower gel, hairbrush... basically all of your essentials so that if you're too tired from driving and unpacking to finish then at least you'll be sorted for that evening / next morning.

Good luck with your move! Try to enjoy making your new home comfortable instead of stressing out about the hard work. It'll all be worthwhile once you get to enjoy your home with your boyfriend.
