Does anyone know how to structure any of the essays for either Russia or Churchill (OCR Exam Board). The marks are 45 for Russia, and 30 and 70 for Churchill. The latter is source based. Any tips for the structure will be helpful. And any ways to revise (apart from reading through the text book/notes) will also be super! Thank you!

    Are you AS or A2?

I did Russia on the OCR board too.

At AS you can structure your essays chronologically and will get above a C. As long as it's themed within chronological order, you can get an A.

At A2 you must cover every leader from Tsar Alexander II all the way to Khrushchev (including the Provisional Government). Answering chronologically will get you a C as long as you cover each leader more than once. However, if you are aiming for the top grades, think of at least 5 themes. For example, if the question was asking about the treatment of the peasants you could write about: the impact of war, modernisation of agriculture, impact of the economy on the peasants, the threat the peasants posed to each regime and how they were dealt with, and perhaps how domestic policies such as censorship affected the lower class. By doing themes, and covering each leader -providing you get examples in there and your writing is coherant- you can get the top marks.
