    Hi!

I have been looking at laptops to buy for my first year at uni and I don't know whethere to get a basic laptop that can support word and other necessary programs or invest in a gaming laptop so I can play while I have spare time.

In general the gaming laptop I am looking at is £480 but I could get a regular one for just over 300.

My budget for the laptop minus software is £500 and I probably will only be playing the Sims 3.

    Advice would be appreciated!

    Thanks

My Macbook Air (which is in no way, shape or form a gaming laptop) can run the Sims 3 just fine. Not suggesting you get a Mac, merely advising you not waste your money on a gaming laptop you don't need.

If it's just the sims 3, then the majority of laptops out there will play it just fine.

You could get away with buying a "non gaming" laptop and it'd still run.

Why not wait till before you start to get some good deals....

also what games? if its just Sms 3, its a basic game to play, integrated graphics will do just fine.
Another thing is gaming laptops don't exist in such a price range, but rather a laptop with a dedicated graphics card.

As a prior Sims 3 addict, (:five:) I can see why you think you'll need a gaming laptop but honestly, you'll be better of with an ordinary one and then just in case you get too many add ons, use the spare money to get the extra graphics you'll need
