    Hi guys

I'm travelling to New York on Tuesday and just wondered if anyone could explain the sales tax to me I.e is it still the case that shoes and clothing under $110/$55 aren't subject to tax?

    thanks!

It's just another name for the VAT we have in this country though there may a price limit which i'm sure somebody else will elaborate on.

I believe you're right. On my last day in NYC a few years ago I went and bought a $20 t-shirt as a gift for my brother, I pulled out $25 expecting to have tax added on but it was waived. I'm fairly sure tax isn't payable on clothes under a certain amount.
