If Ed who lives in Camden is a 'champagne Socialist', Cameron surely wants to be called the Socialist making the rich pay more. Notice the pride when he talks about the 7% stamp duty.

Ignore the idiot laughter of Osborne in the background.

Lastly, consider the belated outrage of both parties at the statement: could it be a ) the analysis that went through their head about the Socialist statement or b ) simply a relatively low intelligence matter?

What is socialism? It cannot be purely Marxism because this excludes Owenites, Fabians, Syndicalists etc.

How does it differ from non-socialism? Socialism elevates "society" above the individual and the "family". The first duty of a socialist is to society.

Does the socialist economic model differ from the non-socialist? According to most types of socialism the state can spend money to generate wealth. This idea occurs in all varieties of socialism.

Who is most socialist? "Left and Right wing" referred to where you sat in the National Assembly in France in the eighteenth century. The modern political spectrum for socialism divides into Internationalist vs Nationalist Socialism ie:N.Korea is Nationalist Socialist whereas the Labour Party is Internationalist Socialist and Authoritarian vs Libertarian ie:Cuba is authoritarian, the Labour Party relatively libertarian. Because socialism has at least two axes of difference we cannot really say who is most socialist. North Korea probably gets the prize for being both most Nationalist Socialist and most authoritarian at present. Historically the Nazis were extreme Nationalist Socialists.

In Britain the International Socialists (SWP) are most Authoritarian and most Internationalist. The SNP are probably the most Nationalist of socialists (The BNP are non-socialist extreme nationalists). The Liberal Democrats are the most Libertarian socialists. The Labour Party contains many "sleepers" who are authoritarian socialists who want real executive power before the revolution, most of these were SWP, communists etc. when they were students.

No, Cameron is not socialist at all. Obviously. Two reasons for calling Cameron socialist, first its what tories hate most, second, if the tories do anything "good" the socialists can claim it as their own idea.
