...So i'm applying for student finance and I'm having a little trouble with the identification part with the personal details section of the form. I am a British Citizen, without a passport. I know the alternative is to send my full birth certificate (which I've got) along with a Birth/Adoption Certificate Form (which a ''professional'' person has to countersign). Trouble is that I've looked at the list of possible people who could countersign it for me and i'm only limited to one person I could possibly ask, which would be at my old secondary school and I'm sure they'd reject me.
I'm from a family with a low income and so, I don't know any family friends or even neighbours who hold such authoritative titles/jobs nor have I attended college long enough to get my personal tutor to sign it (i've only been at college for 19 months, in my second year of a-levels). I would try the dentist but I have only been his patient for a year and he is foreign (not sure if he would have a British passport?). I don't have anything to do with the law too, so a solicitor or police officer is out of the question.

I have spoken to a receptionist at my doctors (where I have been a patient since I was born) who said my doctor would sign it but isn't sure how much it would cost (she said it would probably be £52, as it's an identity document, similar to passport countersign)...but is my doctor eligible to sign it??? Or, has anyone had their certificate form signed by a doctor/GP too?

Just don't want to pay the fee if the form will be rejected by SF...

I hope this has been resolved but... The list of jobs that makes people eligible to sign this is pretty long. Are you sure you know no one who fits the criteria at all?

I would definitely try one or two teachers from your secondary, whether you think they will do it or not. It's worth a try! I'm almost certain your doctor is able to sign it. Is there any reason he wouldn't be..?
