Hey everyone; I need some advice.
My partner wants to join the police and I know nothing about what they should be doing! And I want to help!
So can someone tell me what they should be doing now - like volunteering??
    How to apply?
    Where to apply??
    Qualifications needed? Etc!
Would really appreciate some help please!

I assume Googling 'Police recruitment' might get you somewhere. http://policerecruitment.homeoffice.gov.uk/

An undergraduate degree in Criminology / with Psychology/Law/Sociology would be in the right area.

A good entry route is volunteering as a Police Community Support Officer.

Applying to the Metropolitan Police would be a different experience to working in more rural areas.

getting into the police force is extremely difficult. full stop. Purely because of the cut-backs from the government...so there is no recruitment going on...and when there is...there's a waiting list because everyone is after the same thing.

He should try and join the specials constabulary...whereby you are fully trained and become a certified police officer, but you don't get paid. You can do this whilst studying (preferably criminology/police services etc) and you choose the hours you do. You're basically an unpaid police officer. You can apply from the age of 18. You gain experience etc...whilst studying/working full-time and then wait until the unit opens for general recruitment.
here's just a basic link to the site:
    http://www.policespecials.com

His best option is doing that. Applying for police just on qualifications alone is unlikely to get you anywhere.
    hope this helps

In London we have metropolitan community support officers that need no professional experience as full training is provided. you can apply online and the average starting salary is £22,000.

These officers can't arrest anyone, they just patrol an area on foot to scare off potential trouble makers lol

    Hi,

As of this year you now have to do a foundation degree in Policing, Law & Investigation, alongside this you have to join the specials. I'm not sure where you are in the country, I'm from Cheshire and I know that the course for Cheshire Constabulary is at Chester University but the deadline has passed for this September. It would be worth perhaps contacting your local force or looking on their website for more information.

The course is 2 years long, you can do a 3rd year to top up to a BSc.

    Hope this helps
