How do you reference a case?

I've got a piece of case analysis coursework but i'm not sure how i'm supposed to reference the actual case into footnotes could anyone please give me an example?

It should be Commission v Council in italics, and yes, unless you have been told to do something differently then you should put that reference in the footnotes. If your essays are required to have a table of cases in a bibliography then it should go there too.
