So I will be needed to fill in my UCAS form for the 2014 cycle, wanting 2016 March entry. I get my degree from the OU October 2014 so will wait till I have the results before I apply.
I am applying for undergrad as I am going onto an NHS funding degree and no post grad courses near me

I know I can ask the OU for a reference but will UCAS/Unis accept that, as it seems that it will be very generic. Will I need a work reference? I really don't want them to know that I will be moving, especially as it will be some time before I do. Would it have to be my ward manager or could a band 6 do it for me?

Do you have the email addresses of any tutors from your OU course? Choosing the one that probably knows you the best, you could email them directly and ask them if they would be able and willing to write you a reference.
You really only need to provide one reference. If you really don't want your current employers do you another option may be a past employer that you are still in contact with.
