I just don't understand. I know some branches have closed but the one near me is still going strong (yet Zara and Warehouse closed down). Who actually buys clothes there?! In my entire teenage/adult life I've only known one girl who actually shopped there. The clothes look like what you'd get in a market or one of those pop-up shops...except for about 5x the price. I know shops like topshop have some pretty odd things in them aswell but at least they're what you could call 'fashion forward', JN clothes literally look like they've not updated the ranges since 2006.

    Exhibit D:

I could literally go on all day....

I like Jane Norman. They're one of the few shops that cater for curvy girls. In fact, I'm wearing one of their dresses now. The items you've posted aren't to my taste at all, but things like this are:

I don't see how skin tight, clingy polyester dresses are 'catering to curvy girls' everything in there is trying to be 'sexy' all the time and it just comes across as tacky IMO. Each to their own though, I just don't see how it can get enough customers to stay open when good shops are closing down all the time.

You can go on any shop website and find horrendous items. Admittedly Jane Norman can be a bit tacky, but I've bought some of my favourite dresses from there in the past.

Oh it's so tacky! All 4 of the dresses the OP posted, and the four that 'countered' that, are tacky as hell.

Jane Norman used to be really 'in' back in 2004. I remember every single girl from around that time walking around with the bags.

Hahaha, I was just going to say something like this. Everyone had a Jane Norman bag in high school. Something like this http://www.janenorman.co.uk/fcp/prod...8?colour=black

But I agree OP, the clothes really aren't great, I've no idea how it's still going.

That's your own opinion. I know, in my experience, their clothes cater to my curves, as opposed to Topshop clothes which seem to be for girls with hips the width of a little boy's.

Like you said, to each their own. I like their clothes. You don't.

I've often wondered this...their clothes are pretty poor quality and are usually awful or tacky in design.

But then, the UK is full of awful and tacky people, perhaps our answer is just that!

I used to love Jane Norman when I was younger, but it was always a case of looking through the tacky stuff to find the nice stuff (and avoiding it any time there was a sale on).

    I have these dresses though:

    http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thin...l&tid=33309929

    http://houseoffraser.scene7.com/is/i...op_usm=1,1,0,0

And one similar to this, although less 'shiny' and not so lacy:
    http://houseoffraser.scene7.com/is/i...op_usm=1,1,0,0 (this)

And I like them, at least. But I haven't been in Jane Norman and bought anything for a long time now, it's so hard to find nice reasonably priced clothes there, it's ridiculously overpriced.

    This.

The quality of their clothes have dropped dramatically since then.

I've tried enough. They barely ever fit, and if they do, they don't fit right.

I totally agree about the belts with Jane Norman clothes though, LOL. A lot of their clothes are tacky, but they still have a lot of dresses that I like. Haven't shopped there for a long time though, haven't got 40 quid or more to waste on a dress LOL.

It seems in todays society its seen as acceptable to criticise skinny girls but if a skinny girl called someone fat then all hell would break loose....the word curvy has been invented and resulted in a lot of women slating girls who do not have big hips etc .... It really does not matter the size of a girl!
In my personal opinion you could find somethink great in topshop and then somethink horrendous...i think its hard to generalise a whole store on their clothes as you will always walk into a shop and see things that are nice and that are not...

I got a pretty nice dress on sale in the one that's closing down near me, but I wouldn't have paid full price for it. A lot of there stuff isn't very nice.
