Hey guys, I was wondering that when I put my four uni choices down for 2014, if I put a 5th choice down for another course, will it affect my chances for dentistry (will I be shown as less enthusiastic?)
And except for bio med, am I allowed to put optometry down as a 5th choice? Or is that another ball park altogether?
    Thanks !

As far as I know, unis do not see your other choices. Plus, it is highly advised that you put a science related degree for your fifth choice, which you would enjoy to study if you got rejected by the dental schools you applied to.
You are allowed to put anything you want for your fifth choice. I put genetics, some put bio med, some put biology, some put neuroscience etc.

    Hope it helps

Universities can't see your other choices, so you're allowed to apply for whatever you want for your fifth choice. Whether you stand a chance of getting in or not is another issue entirely, and one I'm unsure of concerning optometry (as your personal statement remains the same).

At the very least, you can apply for any of the biomedical sciences/pharmacy no problem!

No, they dont see where else you've applied for so dont worry.

A non-Dentistry course as a 5th choice is a good idea - something like a straight Bio-med course or something else Heath related that requires lower grades than Dentistry. This would give you a potential back-up insurance if you didnt get the grades - or if you simply changed your mind about Dentistry. Make sure that its still a course you would *want* to do.

I'd like to add that there really is no rush to start. Don't give up on dentistry if you don't get in the first time round. You're so young with so much time ahead of you. Hard to see it that way at the time.
