Lots of students, myself included, rent an apartment or otherwise live in student housing. How can I manage to hang stuff on walls or otherwise display my possessions to create a more personalized study environment without ruining the walls, leaving holes in them, and pissing off my landlord? Would I just be better off using nails and filling the holes when I leave the flat? What do you guys do? Perhaps there's some sort of self-supporting shelf that doesn't leave a mark?

most student housing allows white-tac (blutac but white... obviously) as it doesn't leave a mark.

but it's crap and doesn't hold up big posters.

you can get poster hangers which apparantly don't leave marks but it would be best to try it on a 'hidden' piece of wall first just in case.

If you have a skirting board up at the top, you could use a tac to stick some string to it, then you can attach photos onto the string with tape or blue tac
