I am planning on taking French, Geography, PE short course, and welsh, but i am unsure wether i can take BTEC textiles at level 2 because i want to hopefully go to Bristol or Edinburgh veterinary university or at least keep that option open? Do you know if i can take that combination, or if i can't take the textiles?

First thing I'd say is do your research on websites, maybe send a few emails to see whether they'd accept the BTEC (having said this though, it is a bit early to be looking at universities considering you're just choosing GCSEs but I can understand why).
I don't know about Veterinary medicine specifically, but I know about Medicine which I think is of similar competitiveness (someone correct me if I'm wrong) From my own experience the biggest piece of advice I'd give would be to try and stay away from BTEC if you want to do something like Medicine/Veterinary medicine, few places accept them which is a pity.

Honestly I think that BTEC's and diploma's are good things but if you want to go into a particularly academic area then I think you should just stick with traditional GCSE's if you can. Make sure your doing something you enjoy, and your options give you as many options as possible for the future. In terms of the combination of subjects and courses you can take is down to your school. Best people to speak to would be your tutor or Careers advisor if you have one.
