Anyone else ever get these? Acknowledging that you're really just a bag of cells, and your thoughts are all just reactions and processes in your brain. The almost certain feeling that there's no divine this or that, or any sort of lovely little afterlife, just the impending void of nothing that is death. Once you die, everything is gone, you don't come back and there is absolutely no you whatsoever. Your life span is a measly 70-ish years and every single day you come closer to dying, and that's all that is waiting at the end. There will come a day where you just do not exist anymore, and you'll never see the world after your death. You are a tiny grain of sand in the vast, unforgiving desert that is the universe, and all of your life you are working, doing things you don't want to do so you can do the things you do want to do for the last few years of your life (if you're lucky enough not to have some debilitating problem by then). And then you lie on your deathbed, knowing what's coming, but you can't do anything about it, and that it truly is the end.

maybe its worth taking the time out to pray? lots of people get to this point in life, and you have to realise, there's more to life than this.

Realistically though, is there really more than this, or would you just like to think that because you don't want death to be the end of everything

You're here whether you like it or not. You can sulk and be miserable until you die or do something meaningful and then die (not to say that you can't do it whilst you sulk and be miserable...). Either way, you're gonna die anyway.

You will cease to exist, but you can try and preserve yourself in history like so many others have before you. Not that you'll be able to care though, since you'll be dead and gone, but up until those final moments before death maybe you'll be at peace with yourself and ready to die (unless you're murdered, or in a crash or whatever).
