Official C3 Exam Discussion WJEC - 24/05/13 watch

1. Hi, this thread is for those of us who specifically study with WJEC.

C3 is approaching! We can share tips and advice. And also ask questions here...

I quite like C3 although the trickiest bit for me is probably functions!

3. I think C4 is the synoptic one, you can be tested on anything from C1,C2,C3..

The show that b = -2a

I got right in the end... But it took me half an hour to realise I copied the differential out wrong!

Anyone think they've got the A* equivalent?
9. I'm so annoyed! I did the dy/dx part right but I didnt simplify it so I couldnt find b=-2a!
What did you all get for the evaluate question? I think it was the integrate cos something...?
Functions arent my strongest topic so not sure how i did in questions 10 and 11. Anyone remember their answers?

10 I got like

2(5-ln(x-6)) or something...

And infinity, 7.

11 I had like (0, pi/4)
(1,1)

33. Something something degrees.

And k = infinity

I think my 11 was just totally wrong, but I think I'll have a mark or few from it

Yeah Q10 I got similar to you except i got -2ln(x-6)-5 and I Range I got (7, infinity) cos you had to rewrite it!

I had a different range to you in 11. I got range to be (0,infinity) and k to be -1 as it was outside the domain which was (0, pi/4) so therefore it had no solutions. And I got something different for the angle in 10 then again I had no idea what i was doing :L

then again im not 100% sure!

I think your k is probably right

It is the only question I think I'd have lost marks on.. So hopefully still 70 raw marks

Yeah, I really want an A! I'm a year 13 student so this was a resit and I had 76 in C1 and 80 in C2 so would have liked another A in this cos I know I'm going to struggle in the mechanics exams!

Do you remember what you got part b) of the integration question? I had 13/9

Mechanics is horrid got 85

Yeah, I got that too! (although not simplified, I put 1.4 recurring with an equivalent but not fully simplified fractions)

I got it to be:

Sin theta = -1/2

Which means theta was 210 and 330

OMG you genius! Why are you doing A levels in Yr11? Aw noo I got sin theta = 1/2 so I had the opposite! literally it was the same method just without the '-' so I hope I gain marks for the method?

85 is still an A!!!! Thats what I'm aiming to get! Im resitting M1 and doing M2 so they clash!
M2 is horrid, I get M1 now. Are you doing Double maths then? so in Yr12 you'll be doing further pure?
16. I got. Question 10 domain of f-1(x) as (6,7] something like that how did everyone do on the inequailty question?

hi for the first question of deducing the approx. value i put the bracket to the half then took the half out of the integral and multiplied it by my previous answer and got it to be 2.644, how about u and i'll upload it now
19. for the parametric differentiation i got the value of t to be 0.3, i hope its right and also a=-6 and b=12

I got 0.3 for t

And I got a = 2 and b = 4? A was definitely 2 in my answer, can't remember b.

Yeah, Jan 2013 was a ***** of a paper though!

Urmmm... No idea, I'm self teaching maths, so I'll have to self teach f.maths too
