Without a doubt, USA and Russia are the most powerful countries on the planet, and we would never want to seem them go into a war against each other, never.

-Both of these countries own around 90% of the worlds nuclear weapons, with Russia having about 10k (52%) and USA about 8k. Not sure if these statistics are correct or not tho, (just read about it)

- Both of these countries can blow up the planet over 300 times.. (roughly)

- USA have modern technology, and are more developed with potentially more troops

- Russia are more experienced when it comes to wars. (everyone is disagreeing with this. Soviet Union contained most of the Russians, who were involved in WW2 and in Afghanistan)

Without allies, or any nuclear weapons (of course) who would win?

USA without a doubt. Even Britain or France would have a good chance of winning a conventional war against Russia. Also, how is Russia more experienced when it comes to wars?

Without a doubt Russia is not one of the two most powerful countries in the world. China is the second most powerful nation on the planet.

And currently the US would still beat anyone in a conventional war.

Russia are more experienced when it comes to wars.
How exactly? The US are constantly involved, in Iraq, in Afghanistan, in low intensity conflicts - Russia fought one tiny war against Georgia in 2008 and is involved in some tiny low-intensity conflicts.

Russia as a whole is a bit of a joke these days, but it probably still is the second most powerful country in a strategic nuclear war. The nameplate warhead count is definitely not matched in modern, operable delivery systems but they could still cause serious, perhaps fatal damage to the US, and of course be destroyed themselves.

In a conventional war Russia doesn't have a leg to stand on, other than favourable geography if it initiates an attack on Europe.

That is a poor question, the Taliban and Iraqi armies were wiped out within 2 weeks. The real question is when was the last time the USA actually tried to pound a country into submission like they would against Russia?

I think you are seriously overestimating the clout that Russia still carries today. Economically, politically and militarily the USA completely dwarfs Russia.

Russia is undoubtedly not one of the superpowers of the world. Not even remotely. I would argue strongly that most European powers have a more powerful military force than Russia.

Russia reports its military force based around rotting submarines and leaky ships. Their air force planes haven't been updated in decades. They've cut down on their base military troops, and in its current state they would be forced to employ the majority of its military in defending its massive borders. They could never hold it, and they could never strike out without losing major cities.

The only thing that Russia has available to it is nuclear capabilities. However, their delivery system is extremely out of date and vulnerable to numerous counter measures. I highly doubt that they would resort to nuclear options because of the catastrophic repercussions they would experience, and if they did the majority of them would be neutralised by a variety of means.

If the US wanted the Taliban gone and didn't care about civilian casualties (Like it wouldn't most likely vs Russia) the Taliban would be erased.

Here here, heck, even Britain and France could collectively take down Russia in an conventional war if they wished, never mind the US.

The USA couldn't survive the war in Vietnam, how can they possibly even be considered a realistic opponent for Russia? Especially since China have Russia's back.

Who says they do care about civilian casualties? Drone attacks killing innocent people? and plus bombing the whole country won't kill the Taliban but i understand what you're trying to say dw
