I'm looking to get a new laptop for uni. It will mainly be used for the normal student things, and moderate gaming. I've recently inherited a bit of money so I can go up to around £1000, but I'd prefer it to be cheaper.

Is this one worth it? http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/samsun...97676-pdt.html

    Thanks
Oh wow- for that price, not really.

Check this out: Lenovo Ideapad Z580 15.6 inch laptop - Gunmetal (Intel Core i7 3520M 2.9GHz, 8Gb RAM, 1Tb HDD, Blu-ray, Nvidia Graphics, Windows 8)

    For literally under £700.

Update: This laptop is now £704, as of 09/04/2013

Get a Lenovo Thinkpad, if you want a good machine, I have a thinkpad x230t convertible tablet and it rocks.

Check out the Thinkpad Twist, you might find it interesting.

Absolute rip off.............for general stuff that laptop is serious overkill like to the max, including moderate gaming, the gpu looks very new from the new line up from AMD.

You could also try to look at pcspecialist and put your own parts in or go for something like theses:
