Speak clearly and think before you answer. Research the company and prepare competency questions.

Write down anything you think would be useful, past experiences, good qualities and stuff like that so if you suddenly go blank you've got something to look at.

Prepare a list of possible questions with bullet points for key things to mention in your answer.

Many phone interviews are to see how confident you are on the phone, are you articulate? Did you use proper grammar? Sometimes it's easy to slip into using slang, as you're not speaking to someone face to face, so try and remain professional but friendly. Use the first 10-20 seconds to build rapport, thank them for taking the time to call you, check that they can hear you OK.
It's great to have questions prepared as previous posts said. The interviewer is probably looking to assess how quick you can think on your feet whilst remaining articulate and calm.

Sit in quiet room on your own, then you won't be worried about what you're saying and you can focus clearly on the questions and your answers. I've conducted pre-scheduled phone interviews when candidates have been out shopping etc. not the most ideal environment!

    Hope this helps! :five:

Make sure you don't memorise the answers completely - you won't seem natural & you'll go blank if they give a completely different question

I found that standing up helped and made me feel more confident.

But do the simple things like: making sure your phone is charged, or it's plugged in to a charger, having a glass of water ready, having a paper and a pen etc.

    Good luck!
