    Hi,

I'm a naturalised british citizen but I don't have a national insurance number. What do I do? Will student finance make an application for the number for me?

    Thanks

    Hi Rouge,

Once your application has been fully processed we will try to automatically verify your NI number with the DWP. If you don't have one then DWP will arrange for Jobcenter Plus to meet you for an interview and to issue you one.

It's worth noting that this process can take quite a long time so you might be best to make your own arrangements to get a National Insurance number.

    Hope this helps,
    Mark-Lee
