    Defining friend as someone who:

    - you talk to regularly
    - knows almost everything about you
    - would tell you anything, apart from personal stuff about other people
    - is completely trustworthy, supportive and anything else you'd expect from a friend

By your definition, 3. Though I think it is quite possible to have friends who wouldn't tell you everything, or who don't know almost everything about you.

None due to MH problems unfortunately, I did have a small group of close friends from school but after everyone went to university, they all had a great time, grew in confidence, met partners and changed for the better, while I struggled with it all and if anything my confidence got worse as I struggled to make friends and suffered from depression, and I remember coming back in the summer and not being able to relate to or get on with my old friends anymore, so withdrew myself completely. As much as I wish I could I seriously doubt I'll ever have a friend that fits the description in the OP.

2 by your standards But I have a few more people that I would call friends but not do everything of your list with.

Only 2, one who I've never met but I've known him for nearly 3 years and another who I've been friends with for 6 years. I do have other friends but they're not completely supportive or trustworthy

    6 by your definition.

I would say I have about 10 fairly close friends by my standards though.

I also feel isolated at the moment and I see so many people like us on this website.

It would be really cool if TSR had an anonymous chatroom thing where you could put in loads of details about your interests / opinions / ambitions and then matched people up. Kinda like a dating site but for young people who just want to make friends but remain anonymous until they can build up a level of trust. I bet it would be really popular, maybe the results of this poll will give an indication of that.
