# Dumb question on solubility mg/ml to 1 in Xparts Watch

1. Can someone help me convert mg/ml to 1 in so many parts please?

For example I know 3mg/ml is the same as 1 in 300 but how would I work it out if I was given 50mg/ml?

If the SI prefix (e.g m for milli) is the same for both sides, like 3mg/ml, you can just cancel it, therefore 3g/l
(which is 3/1000 which isn't 1 in 300 btw)

If you have a different prefix just convert the prefix into standard form (e.g m= x10^-3)

Not sure what else I can say, hope that helps a bit...

Thank-you. So if something had a solubility of 3mg/ml how many parts solvent would that be to one part solute?

I'm really after knowing how to find that out if I'm given mg/ml because then I'll know if it is slightly soluble, sparingly soluble, freely soluble etc.
