    Hi.

My mother has supported two previous siblings(last one finished in 2011) and has in the past just provided evidence of her separation through (tenancy agreement and single person tax credit) She used the 20% council discount in the past, but doesn't get it anymore, as the two uni-going children are now back at home. She also provided a signed letter from herself. I'm in the process of applying for 2013, will she need to do ALL of this again? or just send in her financial evidence?

What I mean is will they see on the system, or be able to find out that she has supported children before as a single mother?

    Hi James,

Yes our assessors will have access to this but may not be able to use the previous year's evidence.

The reason for this is that although your Mum was single when she supported the previous applications this doesn't necessarily mean that she still single now. I would definitely suggest that your Mum sends in a new updated letter stating that her status hasn't changed and she's still a single person. She should also mention that your siblings prevent her being eligible for the 25% single person discount.

    Hope this helps,
    Mark-Lee
