# FP1: Confused by Mark Scheme, Improper Integral Watch

1. Question 5)a).
Question Paper:
http://filestore.aqa.org.uk/subjects...W-QP-JAN10.PDF

Mark Scheme:
http://filestore.aqa.org.uk/subjects...W-MS-JAN10.PDF

So, here's what I've done.
I integrated it and got 2x^1/2.

It's a proper integral? As x tends to infinite or zero, it is still proper.

However in the mark scheme it is not integrated.

How come? I am confused, sorry for my stupidity.

The integrand itself (1/sqrt(x)) is unbounded in that interval so it is an improper integral, however there is a value for the integral.
