Students at cambridge do tend to drink a lot particularly around freshers week which was the same week as my birthday. What you seem to want to do is get invited to high table where the fellows drink and eat. Your best bet is to start at the jcr and hopefully someone will offer you a drink from the famous if not infamous wine cellars of cambridge.
Admit it though, really, you just want to get drunk and outrageous. Don't you.
