I need to write a balanced equation for the reaction between Mn2+, [MnO4]- and acac. I don't know how to do this, especially the acac part and I need this in order to do the rest of the questions... I'm assuming this produces [Mn(acac)3].

you can write a half equation showing MnO4- going to Mn2+ and water in acidic medium (i.e with H+)
in Mn(acac)3, you'd get Mn3+
from Mn2+ --> Mn3+ + e-
there is your other half equation which you can combine with the other half equation
MnO4- + 8H+ + 5Mn2+ --> 5Mn3+ Mn2+ + 4H2O
cancel out common Mn2+ ions; you'd get your balanced equation ( i think this is what you get in acidic medium).
