I really want to do both subjects but only have space for one of them as the other three subjects (maths, chemistry, biology) I'm doing are essential in the career I want to pursue.

What career do you want to do? Take the one you're best at and will most enjoy as an A is better than a C at AS (if its medicine grades are so important) and physics is HARD

I did Biology, Chemistry, Maths and History with the intention to pursue a career in Medicine, I did do physics at AS for a while and personally found it better to have History as it was an outside subject. If you are really good at the sciences and thats what you enjoy then Physics might go better with them, it just depends on whether you want that different subject

I was Hoping to go into medicine, and I know that the grades are crucial, in my school, the AS students sat their first physics paper earlier this year and the highest grade was a D which scared me a lot, I know that it doesn't matter if I pick either because medicine only really requires Chemistry and one other science. I've got the same predicted grades for both Physics and History and I'm on target for both.

I'd go for physics if you're definitely taking those three already. History won't really help you at all as none of those other subjects really compliment it. Maths, physics and chemistry go well together. Personally I would rather do Maths, Physics, Chemistry and History. But if you really need biology, go for physics.
Biology is my favourite subject of the four, and the subject I'm best at so I can't drop it, which is my dilemma, because maths and biology are my two fortes and I need chemistry to go into medicine.

The one thing that is edging me towards history is that I get to go to Berlin, whereas with Physics I won't have an experience like that, but I feel like that's the wrong reason to pick it

Medicine's so competitive that you have to get a good 4th AS grade regardless of the subject as unis rarely accept anything below a C and the better the grade the more choice you have. I have friends who have offers for med one of whom took hist up to a2 - sorry i might be biased as I'm doing A2 history! From my experience AS is relatively straight forward and easy to get an A if you put in the work, although whatever you choose is ultimately your choice and hopefully whatever you think is best, hope that helps

If you take history be prepared for essays... however it may offer some respite from your other three science based subjects

I did Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at AS level, and i dropped maths and now i do the three sciences. I almost took history instead of physics but I didn't regret my choice! Physics is so hard but i love it and for me personally writing long essays in history just wasn't for me.
